Full details

Brief Introduction *With Carla Sofia Tuesdays and Thursdays 13.00 - 14.00 For ages 16 and over NOTE: For space management reasons, you must indicate the modality [in-person or online] at the time of registration. Oriental dance is a dance of women, for women of all ages and body shapes. The main characteristic of this type of dance is the rhythmic movement of the hips and the abdominal muscles. It consists of a series of vibrations, accents, undulations, pelvic movements and rotations, which work the body as a whole. Combined with music and a serpentine sinuosity, these movements were originally an integral part of the fertility ritual and of preparation for motherhood. Oriental dance promotes socialisation, self-esteem, sensuality, strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, body awareness and balance, providing a true inner journey. Above all, it allows us to discover that it is possible to have fun dancing, releasing and controlling the body at the same time, thus taking us down a path of personal enrichment through movement. The physical and emotional benefits of Oriental Dance make it a true therapy for body and mind. TESTIMONIALS FROM THE ORIENTAL DANCE STUDENTS OF THE MUSEU DO ORIENTE: "When I dance I surprise myself with the strength that is born in me. Oriental Dance is lightness - it takes us beyond ourselves. Oriental Dance awakens the GODDESS within me! Could there be anything more POWERFUL than that? It is more than a dance, it is pure MAGIC!" "Oriental Dance classes bring me many things: they help me stretch my back and breathe deeply, they take my mind off any worries I may have at that moment, and they give me a community with whom I can share the sensations and emotions the dance brings. Oriental Dance is much more than the imaginary setting of the Thousand and One Nights, populated by women with bare midriffs and faces covered by a veil. Oriental Dance is a process in which the body is always evolving in its mastery of technique and movement. At the same time, Oriental Dance opens a space within us, so that each dancer may meet her deepest, dormant feminine root. And that is why it is important to dance!" ONLINE FORMAT This is an online edition, broadcast in real time and live via the Google Meets platform. A dança oriental promove a sociabilização, a auto-estima, a sensualidade, a força, a resistência, a flexibilidade, a coordenação, a consciência corporal e o equilíbrio, proporcionando uma verdadeira viagem interior.
