On World Music Day, 1 October, the Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães hosts From Court to Salon, a concert for violin and piano that proposes a musical journey on the theme of love through different eras and settings, from the refined elegance of the European courts to the intimacy and charm of the concert salons of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The musicians are from the Teatro Nacional de S. Carlos: Alexander Stewart is Assistant Concertmaster of the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, and Maestro João Paulo Santos, who for several decades has held the most prominent place on the Portuguese classical music scene and at the country's only opera house.
