BAD's Lisbon Metropolitan Area regional delegation and the Cascais Municipal Council hold the 2nd Meeting of Archives of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, dedicated to sharing experiences across all types of archives and debating the policies and practices of contemporary archival science. The Regional Delegation, Lisbon Metropolitan Area, of the Associação Portuguesa de Bibliotecários, Arquivistas, Profissionais da Informação e Documentação (BAD), in partnership with the Cascais Municipal Council, will promote the 2nd Meeting of Archives of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. The Lisbon Metropolitan Area, made up of 18 municipalities where, according to the 2021 census, more than 2,870,000 inhabitants resided, brings together a set of archives that manage information fundamental to the administration of a large number of public and private entities, but also to the reconstitution of collective history. At this Meeting, dedicated to the sharing of experiences about all types of archives, in a period marked by the strengthening of the right of access to information, the dematerialisation of processes, the growth in the digitisation of documentation and the encouragement of networks and new partnerships, the main policies and practices guiding contemporary archival science will be discussed. The concepts of open access, transparency, cooperation, education, inclusion and creativity in the archives of central and local administration and of associations, foundations and brotherhoods will thus guide a reflection and debate on the challenges facing information professionals. A Área Metropolitana de Lisboa, composta por 18 municípios onde, de acordo com os censos de 2021, residiam mais de 2 870 000 habitantes, agrega um conjunto de arquivos que gere informação fundamental para a administração de um elevado número de entidades públicas e privadas, mas também para a reconstituição da história coletiva.
