Fernando Trueba's 1982 second feature, presented in a version restored by ECAM from the original 16mm negative, portrays composer and philosopher Chicho Sánchez Ferlosio — who wrote resistance songs against Franco — in his daily life and reflections, blending documentary portrait, musical, philosophical conversation and comedy. Portuguese premiere on 25 October at São Jorge.

The Swedish-Danish hybrid BITOI, built on bass and three female voices, brings to Festa do Jazz 2026 its maximalist sound crafted from phonetically transcribed birdsong, layering close harmonies and dissonances over deep, pulsing basslines.

Synopsis BITOI (Bass Is The Original Instrument) is a Swedish-Danish hybrid of bass and voices, bringing together the award-winning composer and bassist Cassius Lambert and the singers Alexandra Shabo, Lydia Cronberg and Ella Cronberg. Despite its compact line-up, BITOI produces a rich and extremely precise sound. The female trio combines raw power with delicate textures, layering close harmonies and dissonances over deep, pulsing basslines. Their lyrics, drawn from phonetically transcribed birdsong, become chants that sound at once ancestral and contemporary. Formed in Malmö for the Intonal Festival 2023, BITOI has already performed at festivals such as Roskilde, Le Guess Who?, Rewire, WOMAD, Way Out West, Clandestino, Babel XP and Stanser Musiktage, and has also toured Japan with Aragaki Mutsumi. In parallel, the group has also created commissioned works for theatre, dance, sculpture and cinema. In 2025, it was elected Revelation of the Year at the DMA, and in 2026 it received a Swedish Grammy nomination. Its debut EP, , O , , was released in 2023, followed by its first album, Sirikulu, in 2025, on the Supertraditional Records label. BITOI embodies Cassius's maximalism, extracting the richest possible sound from the most elementary tools: bass, voices, polyrhythms and prepared textures, taking minimalism to its limit.
