A sound installation and performance that revisits the voices of people living near the Monument to D. Pedro IV in Rossio, exploring belonging, colonialism, and memory.

Synopsis A walk with a microphone around a monument: that's how this project began in 2022. Vozes do Rossio proposes the construction of a polyphonic sound installation based on a series of interviews with people who live their lives in the vicinity of the Monument to D. Pedro IV, in Rossio. During the performance, Vicente Antunes Ramos will revisit the voices of the people he interviewed over the years. As he walks through the installation with the same instrument from his walk through the square, the microphone, he will mix these voices live, a choreography of their stories, intertwining individual memories, colonial episodes, and contemporary experiences of displacement. Vozes do Rossio questions notions of belonging, colonialism, and memory, confronting official discourses inscribed in monuments. Faced with the silence of the statue, it is an invitation to listen: from cries that found countries to the echoes of memory of those who walk before these symbols. Talk with artists on February 28. Sinopse Um passeio com um microfone à volta de um monumento: foi assim que começou este projeto, em 2022. Vozes do Rossio propõe a construção de uma instalação sonora polifónica a partir de uma série de entrevistas a pessoas que vivem as suas vidas na proximidade do Monumento a D. Pedro IV, no Rossio. Durante a performance, Vicente Antunes Ramos irá revisitar as vozes das pessoas que entrevistou ao longo dos anos. Enquanto caminha pela instalação com o mesmo instrumento do seu passeio pela praça, o microfone, fará uma mixagem ao vivo dessas vozes, uma coreografia das suas histórias, entrelaçando recordações individuais, episódios coloniais e experiências contemporâneas de deslocamento.
