Strawberry Guy, the musical project of Alex Stephens, brings his sonic impressionism to Lisbon, in a concert at Casa Capitão.

When Alex Stephens (also known as Strawberry Guy) independently released his debut single in 2018, he did it purely out of love for songwriting. What he didn't expect was to gain millions of streams and an enthusiastic worldwide fanbase. 'A solo impressionist, painting majestic soundscapes, Strawberry Guy combines sincere lyrics with lush arrangements to conjure new emotional worlds. Inspired by composers of the Romantic period, such as Debussy, Ravel, and other classical artists of the 19th century, his wonderland moves like a Monet painting, where arpeggios dance among meadows of stunning dynamics and dramatic key changes. Mimicking the effect of nature on emotion, like the composers of the 70s, or the fantastic soundtracks that accompany vibrant scenes in Studio Ghibli's Japanese animation films and video games, the landscape is brought to the foreground. Monet's picturesque Meadow at Giverny appears as the album's accompanying illustration, perhaps reminiscent of the rural views of the Welsh countryside seen from the window of his childhood home. Go slowly, be one with nature, and remember: when life gives you lemons, trade them for strawberries. There are no seated or reserved places at Casa Capitão concerts.
