Tonight We Shout is a feast of staged readings of theatrical texts, promoted by Companhia Cepa Torta, which in 2026 celebrates 10 years of existence. Held in different locations in the cities of Lisbon and Lagos, and with a wide range of performers under a common artistic direction, the cycle establishes itself as an annual celebration of the theatrical text aloud.
Synopsis
New Golden Age, by Karen Hartman, finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2023, is an increasingly real fiction. In a near future dominated by a tech mega-corporation that controls and surveils all of society, a set of values we take for granted goes into crisis, where privacy, freedom and autonomy can be replaced by living in a 'perfected' collective reality. The play takes the form of a dystopian thriller that questions the impact of surveillance and technology on human connections and individual freedom. This is an unpublished translation by Mariana Maurício, made especially for this commemorative edition of the festival's 10th anniversary.

Sinopse
Nova Era Dourada , de Karen Hartman, finalista do Susan Smith Blackburn Prize em 2023, é uma ficção cada vez mais real. Num futuro próximo dominado por uma mega-corporação tecnológica que controla e vigia toda a sociedade, entram em crise um conjunto de valores que tomamos por adquiridos, onde a privacidade, a liberdade e a autonomia podem ser substituídos pela vivência numa realidade coletiva "aperfeiçoada". A peça assume a forma de um thriller distópico que questiona o impacto da vigilância e da tecnologia nas ligações humanas e na liberdade individual.
Esta é uma tradução inédita de Mariana Maurício, feita especialmente para esta edição comemorativa dos 10 anos do festim.
