If in recent decades the term ambient has consolidated, largely thanks to the visionary work of Brian Eno and the broader recognition of his work, the multiple interpretations that followed have reconfigured its premises. At the dawn of the millennium, Fennesz, Jan Jelinek, Gas or Tim Hecker took that state of mind to the threshold of expressions increasingly demarcated by textural exploration and the search for synesthesia. From the kaleidoscopic visions of Basic Channel records to the dystopian filter of Burial, among many others, the sensory dimension intensified and expanded in multiple directions. Less surgical and more artisanal, the cream of the genre today agglutinates memories of pop culture, impressions of daily life and an organic nature, almost as spontaneous as uncontrollable, which makes everything more vivid than ever. And, in the midst of 2026, there is no lack of examples of the exploratory quality that reigns in these frequencies. Producer mu tate is a key piece to understand this moment. Starting from the documentary and musical heritages of his family, much of his work gravitates around the idea of temporal rescue, crossing it with the sonic matter that surrounds us daily, often without even realizing it. It is an immersive process of dissolution of forms, which ends up transforming even the listening experience itself. Se nas últimas décadas o termo ambient se consolidou, em grande medida, graças ao trabalho visionário de Brian Eno e ao reconhecimento mais amplo da sua obra, as múltiplas interpretações que se seguiram reconfiguraram as suas premissas. Na aurora do milénio, Fennesz, Jan Jelinek, Gas ou Tim Hecker levaram esse estado de espírito ao limiar de expressões cada vez mais demarcadas pela exploração textural e pela procura da sinestesia. Das visões caleidoscópicas dos discos da Basic Channel ao filtro distópico de Burial, entre tantos outros, a dimensão sensorial intensificou-se e expandiu-se em múltiplas direções. Menos cirúrgica e mais artesanal, a nata do género aglutina hoje memórias da cultura pop, impressões do quotidiano e uma natureza orgânica, quase tão espontânea quanto incontrolável , o que torna tudo mais vívido do que nunca. E, em pleno 2026, não faltam exemplos da qualidade exploratória que reina nestas frequências. O produtor mu tate é uma peça-chave para compreender este momento. Partindo das heranças documentais e musicais da sua família, grande parte do seu trabalho gravita em torno da ideia de resgate temporal, cruzando-a com a matéria sonora que diariamente nos rodeia, muitas vezes sem sequer nos apercebermos. Trata-se de um processo imersivo de dissolução das formas, que acaba por transformar até a própria experiência de escuta. Life of mu , editado em abril passado, revela desde logo uma paleta alargada de dinâmicas, vagamente mais adjacentes, num estado híbrido com beats dissimulados, integrados numa já habitual viagem aquosa cuja capacidade de surpreender permanece intacta. Por outro lado, as ligações a nomes como Space Afrika, Racine ou NEXCYIA, bem como as residências na plataforma de webradio NTS, demonstram a presença constante e simbólica deste produtor originário da Letónia, mas radicado em Berlim. Numa época marcada por uma intensa e controversa discussão pública em torno da IA e dos riscos criativos que dela decorrem, mu tate é, possivelmente, capaz de assinar a música mais humana do nosso tempo.
