Xico Gaiato, one of the revelations of Festival da Canção 2025, takes the stage at the Sótão on the night of 2 October to serve up — open-bar style — songs that blend the tradition of his Beira Interior with protest music.

Words are not just words. Xico Gaiato carries them in his voice, in his chest and on stage. Without fearing discomfort, he confronts our restlessness guided by whatever is authentic to us. So it comes as no surprise that he comes from a family marked by protest music. And so he lets the traditional absorb what the contemporary adds to it, opening up the musical map and practising decentralisation out of love for his Beira Interior. In 2025, Festival da Canção gave him visibility. It gave the rest of us a punch in the stomach. Questioning norms, reflecting on silence and laying suffering bare, Xico Gaiato sings with a strength we want to drink from. Here is our invitation: on the night of 2 October, the juice of his songs will be served at an open bar in the Sótão. And there is enough for everyone.
