MAAT's program for adult and senior audiences, with online and in-person sessions, to discuss contemporary art themes.

Brief Introduction MAATuridades is a program dedicated to an adult and senior audience, where contemporary themes will be presented through artistic discourses addressed in the museum's exhibition program. In an open dialogue between different generations and life experiences, the sessions (theoretical online) and theoretical-practical (in person at the museum) function as meeting points for debate on questioning the world around us. We know how contemporary art languages sometimes bring barriers to the public, just as we know that in no other phase of art history has spectator participation been so appealed to. The challenge is great and the dialogue fruitful. The sessions are online and in person, divided monthly between two spaces, one via Zoom and the other at the museum. Each season there will be an open session in partnership with the Belém Library, Lisbon Library network. Program Objectives To bring the adult and senior public closer to contemporary art discourse. To provide tools for decoding the discourse of current artists. To foster the meeting point between discourses, languages, and narratives that the museum promotes and which is its action par excellence. To open dialogue between individual and generational life experience with historical, critical, and curatorial perspectives on a path of collective knowledge construction. Additional Information Target audience: active and curious people +60 years Max capacity: 25 people Duration: 90 minutes per session Price: €45 per season (25% discount for MAAT Friends) 2026 Seasons 1st season (February to May) Portuguese Art and International Contemporaneity While in the first half of the 20th century artistic avant-gardes emerged and prospered beyond borders, they arrived timidly to a Portugal under dictatorship, with all the cultural delays that ensued. It is with the 1974 Revolution that the national artistic panorama begins to follow rhythms and experiments, where Portuguese artists exhibit and discourse in different international contexts. Thus, within Contemporary Art, through nuclei of the EDP Foundation Art Collection, we will frame important artists of our country with interests and artistic manifestations that began to be felt in a more global and intercultural breath.
