Synopsis Still On the Road to Freedom Barbara Hendricks & Her Blues Band One of the world's most acclaimed lyric sopranos, Barbara Hendricks returns to Portugal with her latest show Still On the Road to Freedom. Hendricks made her debut in 1974 at the San Francisco Opera and the Glyndebourne Festival, and has since established an internationally renowned career that has made her one of the most admired artists on the music scene. Throughout her career, she has added jazz to her vast classical repertoire, debuting at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1994, at the urging of Claude Nobs. Since then, she has explored the legacy of the great jazz names of the 20th century, from Duke Ellington to Billie Holiday, delving into the genre's blues roots. This path continues in Still On the Road to Freedom, a show that crosses songs and soundscapes with a strong sense of expression and identity. In the blues, her voice, rich in timbre, reveals an engaging dimension.
