François Ozon adapts Albert Camus's celebrated novel: in Algiers, 1938, Meursault, a young clerk with a routine life and a distant attitude, is led by a tragic turn of events into a situation that will radically transform his life.

His relationship with Marie and, above all, his closeness to his neighbour Raymond eventually lead him into a tragic situation that will radically transform his life.
