Raw Earth
Terra Crua

Saturday 3 October · until 11 Oct
The exhibition Raw Earth invites us to rediscover earth as matter, archive and agent of contemporary architecture in Portugal, bringing together scientific content, prototypes and collaborative experiments reusing soil excavated from construction sites in Lisbon.
At a moment of pressure on the planet's limits, we look at raw earth not as a nostalgic return, but as a natural, local and available resource. Building with earth means understanding the territory and reactivating an archive of knowledge that connects local resources and building culture. The exhibition runs from matter to action: from the physical and mineral complexity of the soil to accumulated knowledge, and on to practices that claim earth as a viable, ethical and poetic building material. Starting from the soil — the ground beneath our feet — it invites us to rediscover raw earth as matter, archive and agent of contemporary architecture in Portugal. It brings together scientific and historical content, prototypes and case studies, as well as collaborative experiments that analyse and reuse earth excavated from construction sites in Lisbon, revealing its performance and potential as a circular resource and opening up possibilities for its participation in the construction of the city. Tuesday to Sunday, from 10h to 18h30. 26 September, at 17h, in the MAC/CCB Auditorium. Film screening of Toucher Terre (68', 2024), audio in French, subtitled in English | Free entry, subject to room capacity. Technical sheet: Curated by Madalena Vidigal.
