The 9th edition of Mostra Espanha arrives in Lisbon under the motto Spain in Motion: Diversity and Sustainable Futures, with a special focus on the visual arts. A work by Joaquín Sorolla is on show at the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea do Chiado, while the MAC/CCB hosts two works by Maruja Mallo.

The 9th edition of Mostra Espanha, one of the main moments of artistic exchange between the two countries, has already arrived in Lisbon. Under the motto Spain in Motion: Diversity and Sustainable Futures, the biennial brings together more than thirty proposals in 21 Portuguese municipalities, with special emphasis on the visual arts. In Lisbon, the programme began in September with the initiative Obra Convidada (Guest Work), which presents two references of Spanish painting in dialogue: at the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea do Chiado there is a work by Joaquín Sorolla, from the Museo Sorolla, while the MAC/CCB hosts two works by Maruja Mallo, from the Fundación María José Jove (until 30 November). The visual arts programme also includes Festina Lente, by Laura Pilar Delgado, at Antecâmara Galeria (until 20 November); Umbral Mineral, by Antonio Guerra, at the Instituto Cervantes (until 6 November); and Los Bravú, who present a site-specific project at 119 Marvila Studio (from 2 October to 27 November). The biennial is completed by a programme dedicated to dance, theatre, music, literature and cinema, reinforcing the diversity of contemporary Spanish artistic creation. ARV. More information here.
