'Imitation of Birds' by Tiago Torres da Silva tells the story of Filipe, a young dreamer passionate about theatre who identifies with Nina from Chekhov's 'The Seagull', and explores the generational conflicts of a family full of secrets, with the conviction that only love saves — even if it is already too late.

Synopsis Filipe is a young man full of dreams that seem impossible to him, but are perfectly normal to the grandmother who understands him entirely, and completely absurd to the father who mistreats and offends him, seeming to have not a shred of love. In a family full of secrets, it is Filipe's passion for theatre — specifically his identification with Nina, the celebrated character from Chekhov's 'The Seagull' — that triggers all the conflicts, all the revelations, all the hidden feelings. On a day of astonishing solitude, Filipe crosses paths with a seagull on a bridge. He follows its flight and, by making that choice, will force all the characters to fly. 'Imitação dos pássaros' speaks of the life of a normal family where there are secrets no one accepts, where the older ones feel abandoned, where the younger ones feel misunderstood, and where parents have no time to know their children. It is about that: about generational conflicts within a family and the conviction that only love saves, even if it is already too late.
