The Museum of the Orient presents the permanent exhibition 'Portuguese Presence in Asia' and the temporary show 'Japan: Festivals and Rituals', which brings together more than 1,500 pieces on traditional Japanese celebrations.
Brief Introduction The entrance ticket to the Museum of the Orient gives access to all the exhibitions on display. Permanent Exhibition: "Portuguese Presence in Asia" [Floor 1] With more than 3,400 pieces, this collection includes Chinese and Japanese screens from the 17th and 18th centuries and a core of East India Company armorial porcelain. Temporary Exhibitions: "Japan: Festivals and Rituals" [Floor 2] Until 3 January 2027 Throughout the year, numerous traditional religious festivals and rituals of great social and cultural importance take place in Japan. Bringing together more than 1,500 pieces in an impressive scenography, Japan: Festivals and Rituals introduces these celebrations and their role in Japanese society. Opening Hours Tuesday to Sunday: 10.00-18.00 Friday: 10.00-20.00 (and free entry from 18.00 to 20.00).
