Drawing on unseen footage of the recovery and the return to everyday life, and on excerpts from Rushdie's works, the film creates a dreamlike and poetic setting that mirrors the way he sees writing as his own "knife", a tool to strike back, reclaim his story and answer violence with imagination and art.
