From 22 to 25 October, the Auditório Carlos Avilez in Cascais hosts Cascais Ópera's “O Anel do Unicórnio”, an opera by Martim Sousa Tavares directed by Rita Calçada Bastos, with family sessions on 24 and 25 October at €8 per ticket.

Full details

From October 22 to 25, the Carlos Avilez Auditorium, in the Edifício Cruzeiro, presents the opera 'The Unicorn's Ring', with music by Martim Sousa Tavares and staging by Rita Calçada Bastos. The various sessions are intended for schools and families. The initiative is part of the celebrations of World Opera Day (October 25) and is part of an important dimension of Cascais Ópera's work: bringing opera to new audiences and creating, from an early age, a close relationship with this art form. Keeping the original libretto, written by Ana Lázaro in 2021 with music by Martim Sousa Tavares, this new presentation starts from the same story to build a completely renewed experience. Pedro Patê, a boy weary of his unusual luck, son of two lyrical singers, lives inside an Opera that never ends, along with the background music of an Orchestra that scores every gesture he makes. Bored with this condition of being dragged into epic adventures or intrigues and mischief by his father Bellini Bel Canto, a former barber in Seville, and his mother Faustina Balão, a true baroque diva, Pedro dreams of being an illusionist and discovering the trick that steals the singing from his family's mouths, just with a snap of his fingers! Until one day, Faustina Balão's pet cat, Don Giovanni al Latte, mysteriously disappears, precisely on the day they celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary. After all, in the Opera there are no limits to the unexpected! Target audience: children aged 6 to 10. Exclusive sessions for schools: October 22 | 10:30 and 14:30. October 23 | 10:30 (Conversation with the cast at the end of the show). Sessions for families. October 24 | 15:00 (Conversation open to the public 1 hour before the show, with Martim Sousa Tavares. The show starts around 16:00). October 25 | 16:00. Tickets on sale (€8.00 per ticket, sessions for families): https://www.ticketline.pt/evento/o-anel-do-unicornio-cascais-opera-2026-108486. Information and registrations: [email protected]. Organization: Cascais Ópera, with the support of the Cascais Municipal Council.
