Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Bruno Figueroa’s exhibition brings together photographs taken on the eve of the Itaewon tragedy in Seoul, portraying the neighbourhood as a space of exception where diversity and self-expression were welcomed. The images preserve the memory of what became known as Korea’s last carnival, before 159 young people lost their lives on 29 October 2022.

For a long time, Itaewon occupied a unique place in Seoul as a space of exception. Located in the heart of the city, on the northern bank of the Han River, it was one of the first neighborhoods to absorb Western cultural influences, due to its proximity to the US military base. More importantly, it was one of the few places in Seoul where diversity, individuality and self-expression were openly welcomed. It thus became the symbolic home of Halloween celebrations—a space where personal desires and imagination could be performed and made visible. On 29 October 2022, a tragedy took place. In a narrow, sloping alley, 159 young people lost their lives, crushed by an uncontrollable crowd. A wave of mourning swept across the country. Families, friends and countless citizens carry a deep collective trauma. The photographs, taken the previous night by Bruno Figueroa, are more than a record of a Halloween celebration, preserving a fleeting landscape in which the pressures of competition and the weight of social norms dissolve for brief moments; a fleeting moment in which different identities and desires coexisted in freedom. They are traces of an exceptional reality once temporarily allowed in Korean society. Itaewon ocupou, durante muito tempo, um lugar único em Seul, como um espaço de exceção. Situado no coração da cidade, na margem norte do rio Han, foi um dos primeiros bairros a absorver influências culturais ocidentais, devido à sua proximidade com a base militar norte-americana. Mais importante ainda, era um dos poucos locais em Seul onde a diversidade, a individualidade e a autoexpressão eram abertamente acolhidas. Tornou-se, assim, o lar simbólico das celebrações do Halloween , um espaço onde os desejos pessoais e a imaginação podiam ser representados e tornados visíveis. A 29 de outubro de 2022 ocorreu uma tragédia. Num beco estreito e inclinado, 159 jovens perderam a vida, esmagados por uma multidão incontrolável. Uma onda de luto varreu todo o país. Famílias, amigos e inúmeros cidadãos carregam um profundo trauma coletivo. As fotografias, tiradas durante a noite anterior, por Bruno Figueroa, são mais do que um registo de uma celebração do Halloween, preservando uma paisagem fugaz, na qual as pressões da competição e o peso das normas sociais se dissolvem por breves instantes; um fugaz momento, em que identidades e desejos diferentes coexistiram em liberdade. São vestígios de uma realidade excecional outrora permitida, temporariamente, na sociedade coreana.
