Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Saxophonist Desidério Lázaro presents Inner Journey, his 12th album of original music, a tribute to Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha, in a concert that crosses literature and jazz improvisation.

Full details

Synopsis Inner Journey is the 12th album of original music by acclaimed Portuguese saxophonist and composer Desidério Lázaro, and is a lyrical tribute to Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, one of the most influential works of 20th-century literature. Far from being a mere abstract inspiration, the music functions as a true soundtrack to the book, seeking to translate the spiritual odyssey and existential journey of the protagonist. Each composition chronologically follows one of the crucial moments in Siddhartha's story, capturing the essence of his discoveries, dilemmas, pleasures, privations and transformations along his journey of self-knowledge until finding inner peace and enlightenment through the "middle way". On stage, Desidério Lázaro (on saxophones and bass clarinet) leads a cohesive and expressive trio alongside André Rosinha (double bass) and João Sousa (drums). Together, they establish a strong chamber interaction that perfectly balances melodic introspection with moments of great rhythmic intensity. To enrich the immersive experience, the concert will be accompanied by the simultaneous projection of the text, allowing the audience to follow the narrative in real time. The show thus becomes an invitation to attentive and meditative listening, crossing literature and jazz improvisation. Show original (Portuguese)
