Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Pianist Joana Gama returns to solo recording with Ivan Vukosavljevic's 'a mind in the heart', a cycle of eight piano pieces inspired by the Orthodox Christian ethos and a sermon by Meister Eckhart, performed in the Sexta Maior series.

Full details

Synopsis a mind in the heart (TRPTK, 2026) marks Joana Gama's return to solo record releases, after Arcueil (2019). This time, the motivation came from an invitation by the Serbian composer Ivan Vukosavljevc. For Joana Gama, it was not hard to be convinced, since this piece has affinities with works by composers she has been performing in recent years, from Erik Satie to John Cage, also passing through Federico Mompou and Hans Otte. On the context of the composition, the composer says: 'These eight pieces became a growing companion in a chapter of my life marked by many profound transformations. A chapter that culminated in the most significant event of my life so far, the birth of my daughter.' Taking inspiration from the phrase that gives the cycle its title, and with some of the movements making reference to a sermon by Meister Eckhart, Vukosavljevic also drew on the Orthodox Christian ethos and the musical heritage that surrounds it. 'Joana Gama performs these pieces with enormous empathy, as if she were, herself, meditating. Her interpretation is transparent and contemplative; the recording, warm and spacious.' Sinopse Uma mente no coração ( a mind in the heart - TRPTK, 2026) marca o regresso de Joana Gama à edição discográfica a solo, após Arcueil (2019). A sua interpretação é transparente e contemplativa; a gravação, calorosa e ampla.» Thea Derks / Contemporary Classical Ficha Artística Piano Joana Gama Programa / Cartaz Ivan Vukosavljevic (1986) a mind in the heart (2025) 1. a mind in the heart 2. a citadel 3. ninia sili 4. an announcement 5. a virgin 6. a wife 7. for Nata 8. a child Preços Geral - 20€ Descontos Cartão CCB Desempregados Estudantes Grupos + 20PAX Maiores de 65 anos Menores de 30 anos Pessoa c/ Nec.
