Commented concert by Susana Henriques. Lisbon Music Academy. Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Conductor Emilio Pomàrico leads the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa in a concert featuring Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony and a work by Ana Seara.

Synopsis Conductor Emilio Pomàrico returns to Portugal to perform the Pastoral Symphony, one of the most bucolic works in the symphonic repertoire. It is hard to believe that it premiered alongside the Fifth Symphony in December 1808. It evokes rural life through the transfiguration of nature into music, expressing people's feelings in those landscapes. In five movements, it goes beyond the limits of classical form to guide us on a contemplative journey, punctuated by the living pulse of sensations and affections. In this concert, it joins the timbral, harmonic, and melodic poetry of Ana Seara. Before that, a small symphony, or perhaps a suite; in short, the sequence of Overture, Scherzo, and Finale with which Schumann ventured into the highest flights of orchestral writing. Sinopse O maestro Emilio Pomàrico regressa a Portugal para interpretar A Sinfonia Pastoral , uma das obras mais bucólicas do repertório sinfónico. Custa crer que foi estreada lado a lado com a Quinta Sinfonia , em dezembro de 1808. Evoca a vida rural pela transfiguração da natureza em música, expressando os sentimentos das pessoas nessas paisagens. Em cinco andamentos, ultrapassa os limites da forma clássica para nos guiar por uma viagem contemplativa, mas pontuada pela pulsão viva das sensações e dos afetos. Neste concerto, junta-se à poética tímbrica, harmónica e melódica de Ana Seara. Antes disso, uma pequena sinfonia , ou talvez uma suíte; enfim, a sequência de Abertura, Scherzo e Finale com que Schumann se aventurou nos mais altos voos da escrita orquestral.
