Collect LX Factory welcomes Dorisburg for a special live performance on November 14th. Behind Dorisburg is Alexander Berg, the Swedish producer also known as one half of Genius Of Time. Since his first releases on Aniara, Berg has developed a distinct sound built around movement, repetition and tension. Rolling drums, elastic bass, clipped percussion and blurred synth tones sit at the centre of his music. Basslines stretch underneath shifting rhythms, while chords and melodic fragments surface briefly before sinking back into the mix. Nothing feels fixed for long. Across his work for Aniara and Hivern Discs, including Sinai Hypnosis and the 2016 album Irrbloss, the detail is in the movement: dry percussion against long delays, pressure in the low end, soft tones hanging in the air, loops slowly changing shape. Working with hardware and collected sounds, Berg builds through experimentation. A sound is pushed, delayed, filtered or pulled apart until it finds its place. The result is physical music - rhythm, resonance, space and texture constantly shifting against each other. The live performance extends this process into the room. Patterns are stretched, layered and broken apart in real time. Delays open up, percussion moves around the pulse, basslines deepen and familiar motifs return in altered form.
