Today, this art faces challenges that threaten its continuity. Preserving it requires recognizing and valuing the master pavers, true guardians of knowledge passed down from generation to generation. On this route, starting at the Marquês de Pombal Roundabout, as we look at what we step on, we discover that every stone tells a story. From the post-earthquake reconstruction to the modernity of the great avenues, the pavement becomes a narrative: a mosaic of experiences, memories and eras that, together, tell the very history of the city.
