Full details

Synopsis The acclaimed Cape Verdean artist Elida Almeida returns to Lisbon's stages for the official presentation of her latest work, “SPEDJU”. On this album, Elida Almeida dives into a deeply intimate and transformative dimension of her life: the experience of motherhood. Conceived during the gestation of her daughter, the album is born as a space for personal, emotional and artistic reflection, where each song works as a mirror of the changes experienced by the artist in her body, mind and way of seeing the world. Pregnancy brought with it a new awareness of time, vulnerability, strength and the meaning of being a woman. The mirror then ceases to be just a physical object and becomes a symbol of recognition and discovery. By observing the real transformations of her body, Elida Almeida also confronts deep inner changes, emotional maturity, the responsibility of motherhood and the ancestral bond between mothers and children. “SPEDJU” translates this constant dialogue between identity and transformation. The album covers universal emotions of fear, courage, love, doubt, hope and rebirth that go beyond her individual experience and resonate with the lives of so many women and mothers around the world. The work thus becomes a tribute to motherhood as a creative, silent and revolutionary force. Musically, Elida Almeida maintains her contemporary signature rooted in Cape Verdean sounds, but presents a more introspective and sensitive register, without losing the vibrant energy that characterises her career. Her compositions reflect the duality between fragility and power, intimacy and celebration, in an artistic narrative that brings the public closer to the most human dimension of the singer-songwriter. “SPEDJU” is a testimony of transformation. A mirror where Elida Almeida sees herself as a woman, artist and mother, and where each person can also recognise parts of themselves, their changes, affections and life stories. In the new show, Elida Almeida invites the audience on an intimate and vibrant journey through the multiple reflections of identity, memory, roots and Cape Verdean contemporaneity. “SPEDJU” emerges as an artistic and emotional mirror, where the singer reveals new sounds, creative maturity and a deep connection between tradition and modernity. Recognised for her contagious energy on stage and the unique fusion of rhythms, batuque, funaná and global influences, Elida Almeida promises an intense, celebratory concert full of emotion. Live, the new songs gain even more strength, in a meeting marked by authenticity and the powerful presence of the artist. Coliseu Club, in Lisbon, on 5 December 2026, will host a special night celebrating contemporary Cape Verdean music and the international career of one of the most striking new-generation voices.
