Divino Sospiro and mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg perform cantatas by Bach, Scarlatti and Stradella, in a concert that crosses Lutheran piety with Mediterranean emotionalism.

Synopsis Pre-concert talk by Massimo Mazzeo at 7:30 pm. Ad Gloriam Dei: Cantatas by Bach, Scarlatti and Stradella Divino Sospiro and Ann Hallenberg Two of Bach's finest cantatas, composed in Weimar (1714) and Leipzig (1726), respectively, are here combined with impressive works by Scarlatti and Stradella. The distance between the austerity of Lutheran piety and the burning 'emotionalism' of the Mediterranean may seem insurmountable, yet Bach so admired the compositions of his Neapolitan colleagues that he made his own 'parody' of them in his output. In this concert, Divino Sospiro and Ann Hallenberg demonstrate equal mastery in both idioms. Sinopse Conversa pré-concerto por Massimo Mazzeo às 19h30. Ad Gloriam Dei : Cantatas de Bach, Scarlatti e Stradella Divino Sospiro e Ann Hallenberg Duas das melhores cantatas de Bach, compostas em Weimar (1714) e Leipzig (1726), respetivamente, são aqui combinadas com obras impressionantes de Scarlatti e Stradella. A distância entre a austeridade da piedade luterana e o «emocionalismo» ardente do mediterrâneo pode parecer intransponível, no entanto Bach admirava tanto as composições dos seus colegas napolitanos que fez própria «paródia» delas na sua produção. Neste concerto, Divino Sospiro e Ann Hallenberg demonstram igual mestria em ambos os idiomas.
