Brief Introduction WORKSHOP Eastern Dyeing | Nature, Color and Shibori With Isabel Guimarães DATE Saturday | November 14 HOURS | 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 4:30pm PARTICIPANTS | Max. 12 PRICE | €75 [materials included] Explore the history of pigments and colors in dyeing, connecting traditional Portuguese and Eastern practices. In this workshop, participants will learn to dye fibers with natural elements such as leaves, flowers, seeds, bark, roots and woods. Shibori techniques will also be introduced, using different ways of folding, tying and compressing fabric to create resists and patterns before dyeing. The pigments used include Eastern classics such as madder root, safflower, cochineal, turmeric, hibiscus, sandalwood, green tea and black tea. Participants will manipulate the dye bath, adjust pH and create a wide palette of colors on natural fibers such as wool, silk, cotton and linen. This workshop promotes sustainable artistic practices, valuing traditional knowledge and local resources. It aligns with sustainable development goals and environmental education, encouraging a conscious relationship with natural resources and artistic creation based on ecology and reuse. Isabel Guimarães was born in 1976. In 2011 she graduated in Plastic Arts, Sculpture, from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, where she also attended the Master's in Painting. She completed the Textile Design course at Citex in 1997 and has since undertaken various training in textile design and fashion. In 2007 she founded the company Around Design Unipessoal Lda and has worked in various areas related to textile design, paper and ceramics, for national and international clients. She combines her professional activity as a designer with that of a certified trainer at Modatex (formerly Citex) since 2006, at Gudi and at the Porto Fashion School, in the courses of Fashion Design, Textile Design and Textile Arts. She teaches artistic workshops at the prestigious Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis, Museu da Misericórdia do Porto and in cultural spaces such as Fábrica de Santo Thyrso. Breve Introdução OFICINA Tingimentos do Oriente | Natureza, Cor e Shibori Com Isabel Guimarães DATA Sábado | 14 Novembro HORAS | 10h às 12h30 e 14h às 16h30) PARTICIPANTES | Máx. 12 PREÇO | €75 [materiais incluídos] Explore a história dos pigmentos e cores na tinturaria, conectando práticas tradicionais portuguesas e orientais. Nesta oficina, os participantes aprenderão a tingir fibras com elementos naturais como folhas, flores, sementes, cascas, raízes e madeiras. Serão também introduzidas técnicas de shibori, utilizando diferentes formas de dobrar, prender e comprimir o tecido para criar reservas e padrões antes do tingimento. Os pigmentos utilizados incluem clássicos orientais como raiz de rubia, cártamo, cochonilha, cúrcuma, hibisco, madeira de sândalo, chá verde e chá preto. Os participantes manipularão o banho tintórico, ajustarão o pH e criarão uma ampla paleta de cores em fibras naturais como lã, seda, algodão e linho. Esta oficina promove práticas artísticas sustentáveis, valorizando saberes tradicionais e recursos locais. Enquadra-se nos objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável e de educação ambiental, incentivando uma relação consciente com os recursos naturais e a criação artística com base na ecologia e no reaproveitamento. Isabel Guimarães Nasceu em 1976. Em 2011 licenciou-se em Artes Plásticas , Escultura, pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto onde também frequentou o Mestrado de Pintura. Terminou o curso de Design Têxtil no Citex em 1997 e desde então tem feito diversas formações nas áreas de design têxtil e moda. Em 2007 constituiu a empresa Around Design Unipessoal Lda e tem trabalhado em várias áreas ligadas ao design têxtil, papel e cerâmica, para clientes a nível nacional e internacional. Acumula a sua actividade profissional de designer com a de formadora certificada, no Modatex (anterior Citex) desde 2006, na Gudi e na Escola de Moda do Porto, nos cursos de Design de Moda, Design Têxtil e Artes Têxteis. Ministra workshops artísticos no prestigioso Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis, Museu da Misericórdia do Porto e em espaços culturais como Fábrica de Santo Thyrso.
