Brief Introduction MARBLED PAPER WORKSHOP With Octávio Júlio DATES | Saturday | October 17 HOURS | 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM PARTICIPANTS | Min. 8, Max. 11 PRICE | €65 (materials included) The technique of marbled paper has, over the centuries, developed as an area of painting on paper. This form of plastic expression has been little publicized until now. With the emergence of Suminagashi in Japan, and later Ebru in Turkey, there was a whole evolution of this technique, according to the various countries where it was produced. The introduction of new materials and the capacity for adaptation gave opportunity for new concepts to emerge, as well as new plastic realities. Of very restricted knowledge, located in the knowledge of the great masters of bookbinding, it came to be used as a support for sacred documents in more remote times. As times evolved, marbled paper sheets would also be used in Alba Amicorum and often used as wrapping paper. Being part of a material heritage that is intended to be maintained, preserved and above all publicized, it becomes essential to transmit this knowledge, since it can derive into new forms of application and also into new plastic and artistic concepts, thus enabling new forms of study and research. In this workshop we will introduce the different materials according to the different techniques to be used, including the preparation of the bath itself, the inks and the support paper. We will also understand the relationship established between the concentration of pigments, the plasticity of the different materials (inks) and the bath itself. Work plan Bath dilution Paper preparation Making combs Ink dilution: watercolor, gouache and acrylic Ox gall Applying inks to the bath Placing and lifting the paper The drying process Cleaning the material Experimentation Doubts and clarifications Note: Participants should bring a lab coat, an old t-shirt and a container for liquids (about 3-4 liters) if they wish to take the bath home. His training in ceramic restoration, painting and book production are responsible for the awakening and great involvement in the study of an almost extinct art, so shrouded in secrecy by the great masters of bookbinding, Marbled Paper. Breve Introdução OFICINA DE PAPEL MARMOREADO Com Octávio Júlio DATAS | Sábado | 17 Outubro HORAS | 14.00 às 18.00 PARTICIPANTES | Mín. 8, Máx. 11 PREÇO | € 65 (material incluído) A técnica do Papel Marmoreado tem vindo, ao longo dos séculos, a desenvolver-se como uma área da pintura em papel. Esta forma de expressão plástica tem sido até agora pouco divulgada. Com o surgimento do Suminagashi , no Japão, e mais tarde o Ebru, na Turquia, assistiu-se a toda uma evolução desta técnica, de acordo com os vários países onde foi sendo produzida. A introdução de novos materiais e a capacidade de adaptação deram oportunidade a que novos conceitos fossem surgindo, tal como novas realidades plásticas. De conhecimento muito restrito, localizado no saber dos grandes mestres da encadernação, chegou a ser utilizado como suporte para documentos sagrados em tempos mais remotos. Com o evoluir dos tempos, as folhas de papel marmoreado chegariam ainda a ser utilizadas nos Alba Amicorum e muitas vezes utilizadas como papel de embrulho. Fazendo parte de um património material que se pretende manter, preservar e acima de tudo divulgar, torna-se essencial a transmissão destes conhecimentos, uma vez que podem derivar em novas formas de aplicação e ainda em novos conceitos plásticos e artísticos , possibilitando, por sua vez, novas formas de estudo e pesquisa. Neste workshop iremos dar a conhecer os diferentes materiais de acordo com as diferentes técnicas a utilizar, incluindo a preparação do próprio banho, das tintas e o papel de suporte. Iremos também compreender a relação que se estabelece entre a concentração dos pigmentos, a plasticidade dos diferentes materiais (tintas) e o próprio banho. Plano de trabalho Diluição do banho Preparação do papel Realização de pentes Diluição das tintas: aguarela, guache e acrílico O Ox-gall A aplicação das tintas no banho Colocação do papel e levantamento O processo de secagem Limpeza do material Experimentação Dúvidas e esclarecimentos Nota: Os participantes devem trazer bata, t-shirt velha e recipiente para líquidos (cerca de 3-4lts) caso queiram levar o banho. OCTÁVIO JÚLIO É licenciado em História da Arte. A sua formação em restauro de cerâmica, a pintura e a produção do livro são responsáveis pelo despertar e grande envolvimento no estudo de uma arte quase extinta, e tão rodeada de secretismo pelos grandes mestres da encadernação, o Papel Marmoreado. Em caso de desistência: Haverá lugar ao reembolso do valor total da inscrição quando a desistência for comunicada até 8 dias úteis antes da actividade.
