Synopsis Once upon a time… A native girl called Pocahontas, who belonged to the Powhatan tribe in Virginia, on the North American continent. Pocahontas was a very sweet girl, but very independent and rebellious, a real handful for her father, Chief Powhatan. Turbulent times were lived in the tribe and across the whole continent, due to the invasion of the English settlers, who were taking over the Powhatan lands. One day, several settlers were captured by the natives and Great Chief Powhatan sentenced them to death. They would be executed on the following moon. At the exact moment of the execution, Pocahontas interrupts the ceremony and begs her father not to commit the barbarity — according to her, violence would only generate more hatred and more violence. Chief Powhatan granted his daughter's request. Among the settlers sentenced to capital punishment was John Smith who, after seeing his life spared, swears eternal friendship to the natives and, especially, to Pocahontas. From this friendship an intense love story will emerge, which will run into the racial prejudice between two peoples with distinct motivations. Sinopse Era uma vez… Uma indígena chamada Pocahontas que pertencia à tribo dos Powhatans, na Virginia, no Continente Norte-Americano. Pocahontas era uma menina bastante meiga, mas muito independente e rebelde, uma verdadeira dor de cabeça para o seu pai, o Chefe Powhatan. Na tribo indígena e em todo o Continente, vivem-se tempos conturbados, devido à invasão dos colonos ingleses, que se estavam a apoderar dos terrenos dos Powhatan. Um dia, vários colonos foram capturados pelos indígenas e o Grande Chefe Powhatan sentenciou-os à morte. Seriam executados na lua seguinte. No momento exato da execução, Pocahontas interrompe a cerimónia e implora a seu pai que não cometa a barbárie, segundo ela, a violência apenas ia gerar mais ódio e mais violência. O Chefe Powhatan acedeu ao pedido da filha. Entre os colonos sentenciados à pena capital estava John Smith que, depois de ver a sua vida poupada, jura amizade eterna aos indígenas e, em especial a Pocahontas. Desta amizade irá surgir uma intensa história de amor, que irá esbarrar no preconceito racial entre dois povos com motivações distintas.
