Museu de Lisboa - Palácio Pimenta Campo Grande · Lisbon

From 29 October, the Museum of Lisbon — Palácio Pimenta presents Cidade Animal — Outra história de Lisboa, an exhibition recovering the stories of the dogs, pigs, cows and horses that once shared the city's daily life.

Full details

The Museum of Lisbon — Palácio Pimenta presents the temporary exhibition Cidade Animal — Outra história de Lisboa (Animal City — Another History of Lisbon) from 29 October. Lisbon, like other cities, has always been marked by the sharing of space between humans and other animals, domestic or not. Dogs, pigs, cows and horses were inseparable from daily life, integrating networks of work, food, trade and sociability. This exhibition recovers the stories of these often forgotten inhabitants, and invites us to rediscover the spaces where their presence was significant. It presents places and biographies of animals that reveal different forms of coexistence: moments of peaceful cohabitation and interdependence, but also relationships marked by exploitation and domination. From 29 October 2026 to 4 June 2027. Tuesday to Sunday, 10h to 18h. history, Lisbon studies (olisipografia).
