Synopsis The musical Evita is one of the most celebrated works by Tim Rice (lyrics) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (music). The musical narrates, in opera-rock format, the rise and fall of Eva Perón, the charismatic and controversial First Lady of Argentina. Set in the 1930s and 1940s, the musical follows the trajectory of Eva Duarte, an ambitious young woman who leaves the countryside in search of fame and fortune in Buenos Aires. Determined to win, Evita gets involved with influential figures until she meets Juan Perón, a rising military officer and politician. By marrying him, Eva becomes one of the most adored figures by the people, a symbol of hope and social progress, but also hated by many, targeted by criticism and accused of political manipulation and thirst for power. The story is narrated by Che, a skeptical revolutionary and a kind of critical conscience, who observes and questions Eva's actions throughout her life. The musical culminates with Eva's illness and premature death at age 33, when her image had already become mythical. The work originally premiered at the Prince Edward Theatre in London on June 21, 1978, with Elaine Paige as Eva Perón, earning great acclaim from critics and audiences, and receiving the Laurence Olivier Award for her performance. A year later, the production arrived on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre on September 25, 1979, starring Patti LuPone, who would receive the Tony Award for her performance. Since then, the role of Evita has been played by several renowned actresses, including Madonna, who immortalized it in the 1996 film adaptation, and Elena Roger, star of the 2006 London revival and the 2012 Broadway production. A Yellow Star Company, de Carla Matadinho e Paulo Sousa Costa, apresenta EVITA. SINOPSE O musical Evita, é uma das obras mais célebres de Andrew Lloyd Webber (música) e Tim Rice (letra). O musical narra, em formato de ópera-rock, a ascensão e queda de Eva Perón, a carismática e controversa Primeira Dama da Argentina. Passado nas décadas de 1930 e 1940, o musical acompanha a trajetória de Eva Duarte, uma jovem ambiciosa que sai do interior em busca de fama e fortuna em Buenos Aires. Determinada a vencer, Evita envolve-se com figuras influentes até conhecer Juan Perón, um oficial militar e político em ascensão. Casando-se com ele, Eva torna-se numa das figuras mais adoradas pelo povo, símbolo de esperança e progresso social , mas também odiada por muitos, alvo de críticas e acusada de manipulação política e sede de poder. A história é narrada por Che, revolucionário cético e uma espécie de consciência crítica, que observa e questiona as ações de Eva ao longo da sua vida. O musical culmina com a doença e morte prematura de Eva, aos 33 anos, quando a sua imagem já se havia tornado mítica. A obra estreou originalmente no Prince Edward Theatre, em Londres, a 21 de junho de 1978, com Elaine Paige no papel de Eva Perón, conquistando grande aclamação da crítica e do público, tendo recebido o Laurence Olivier Award pela sua interpretação . Um ano depois, a produção chegou à Broadway, no Broadway Theatre, a 25 de setembro de 1979, protagonizada por Patti LuPone, que viria a receber o Tony Award pela sua interpretação.
