Les Sylphides, by Michel Fokine, and The Look, by Sharon Eyal, dialogue between light and shadow, clarity and darkness, lightness and density, exploring the collective force of bodies in unison without ever losing sight of individuality and the deep musicality of movement, with emphasis on the interpretation of Chopin's music by pianist António Rosado. In this encounter between memory and contemporaneity, CNB also celebrates the coexistence of one of the oldest works in its repertoire and one of the most recent additions, both surprisingly current in their timelessness and in the way they continue to challenge the present through dance. Les Sylphides Les Sylphides is a one-act ballet, without narrative, that evokes the poetic and romantic universe of the 19th-century white ballet. Choreographed by Michel Fokine to music by Frédéric Chopin, it brings together a poet and a group of sylphs in a succession of dances that privilege atmosphere, musicality and purity of movement. Considered one of the first abstract works in the history of ballet, Les Sylphides celebrates the beauty of classical dance through an ethereal and timeless evocation of romanticism. She is one of the great references in dance, regularly invited to create for major repertory companies, in addition to the creations she makes in her own structure. Created in 2019 for the Batsheva Dance Company, The Look is marked by intense physicality and a movement that is simultaneously fluid and mechanical, creating a hypnotic effect. Eyal explores the relationship between performers and space, using repetitive and synchronized movements that capture the audience's attention from the first moment.
