Chanoyu, or the tea ceremony, is one of Japan's cultural traditions. Through the gestures of preparing matcha and receiving the guest, host and guest share a unique moment of encounter, the so-called ichigo ichie.
The consumption of matcha originates with Zen monks who brought from China the habit of drinking tea, initially used to ward off sleep during meditation. Over time, this practice was refined into its own aesthetic sensibility. In the 16th century, Sen no Rikyu shaped wabi-cha, a path that values simplicity and silence above ostentatious utensils or formalities. Once, tea gatherings also played a relevant role among samurai and in the political sphere; today, they are above all a more open time, dedicated to silence and presence.
This workshop is led by an instructor with roots in a Zen temple. This year, he also took part in a tea gathering in the United Kingdom, taking chanoyu beyond Japan. The matcha used is brought from Kyoto and the bowl, a special piece brought from Japan, each utensil carries its own story, allowing you to experience chanoyu as it is experienced in Japan.
Participants will prepare their own matcha and experience the fundamental gestures of chanoyu, coming into contact with the essence of Japanese aesthetics: simplicity, silence and the spirit of ichigo ichie. The silent attention devoted to each gesture also approaches what is now called mindfulness.
Tatsuo Ueno is a practitioner of the Omotesenke school, one of the oldest and most prestigious lineages of Sen no Rikyu, now based in Lisbon, and has also developed activities in Dubai and Japan. His collaborations include the Embassy of Japan in Portugal, Dior, KABUKI LISBOA, the University of Lisbon and Aprendizes International School, among others.

O chanoyu , ou cerimónia do chá, é uma das tradições culturais do Japão. Através dos gestos de preparar o matcha e receber o convidado, o anfitrião e o convidado partilham um momento de encontro único , o chamado ichigo ichie .
O consumo do matcha tem origem nos monges zen que trouxeram da China o hábito de beber chá, utilizado inicialmente para afastar o sono durante a meditação. Com o tempo, esta prática refinou-se numa sensibilidade estética própria. No século XVI, Sen no Rikyu deu forma ao wabi-cha , uma via que valoriza a simplicidade e o silêncio acima de utensílios ou formalidades ostensivas. Outrora, as reuniões de chá tinham também um papel relevante entre samurais e no domínio político; hoje, são sobretudo um tempo mais aberto, dedicado ao silêncio e à presença.
Esta oficina é conduzida por um instrutor com raízes num templo zen. Este ano, participou também numa reunião de chá no Reino Unido, levando o chanoyu para além do Japão. O matcha utilizado é trazido de Kyoto e a taça, uma peça especial trazida do Japão , cada utensílio carrega consigo a sua própria história, permitindo viver o chanoyu tal como se vive no Japão.
Os participantes irão preparar o seu próprio matcha e experimentar os gestos fundamentais do chanoyu , entrando em contacto com o essencial da estética japonesa: simplicidade, silêncio e o espírito do ichigo ichie . A atenção silenciosa dedicada a cada gesto aproxima-se, também, do que hoje se designa por mindfulness .
Tatsuo Ueno é praticante da escola Omotesenke , uma das mais antigas e prestigiadas linhagens de Sen no Rikyu , , sediado agora em Lisboa, desenvolveu também atividades no Dubai e no Japão. Entre as suas colaborações destacam-se a Embaixada do Japão em Portugal, a Dior, o KABUKI LISBOA, a Universidade de Lisboa e a Aprendizes International School, entre outras.

Haverá lugar ao reembolso do valor total da inscrição quando a desistência for comunicada até 8 dias úteis antes da actividade. Depois dessa data, o reembolso só poderá ser considerado se o lugar for preenchido ou em situações de doença, acidente, ou outros imponderáveis de força maior, devidamente comprovados.
Caso a actividade não se realize por falta de participantes, ou por outro motivo, o valor da inscrição será devolvido na sua totalidade.
