The POP-UP GAU debuts with 'MOTHER, A Metamorfose da Criação', an exhibition by Vanessa Teodoro exploring the feminine as a place of creation, crossing her graphic language with Cape Town beads, Arraiolos embroidery, wool and ceramics.
POP-UP GAU, the pilot project of the Galeria de Arte Urbana, debuts with the exhibition MOTHER, A Metamorfose da Criação, by Vanessa Teodoro. Installed in the Loja da Avenida 24 de Julho, the POP-UP GAU, which is born with the aim of giving new life to vacant or underused municipal spaces, temporarily transforming them into places dedicated to creation, exhibition, workshops and cultural participation, intends to function as a new cultural anchor for the city, supporting artists and bringing contemporary creation closer to communities. It is in this context that MOTHER emerges, a show that marks a new moment in Vanessa Teodoro's career and explores the feminine as a place of creation, memory, ancestry and transformation. The artist crosses her graphic language with traditional techniques and knowledge, in works made with craftswomen from different geographies. Beads from Cape Town, Arraiolos embroidery, wool and ceramics meet in a language where tradition and contemporaneity, individual and collective creation intersect. ARV.
