Teatro do Bairro Alto Lisbon

In this theatrical experiment, a video game is played from start to finish in a single session of about 8 hours, with 10 episodes and 4 breaks (with food and drink). One audience member takes the controller as elected leader while everyone else watches the story unfold, cheers, makes suggestions and helps take decisions, in a daring, political mix of Animal Farm with Pokémon and Final Fantasy.

As an experience, asses.masses is a collaborative journey taken by the audience, in which the video game is played from start to finish in a single session over about 8 hours, 10 episodes and 4 intervals (with food and drink). It was conceived so that, while the elected leader takes hold of the means of production (the controller), the rest of the audience watch the story unfold, cheer on the player, make suggestions and help take decisions. Daring, political and a mix of Animal Farm with Pokémon with Final Fantasy, asses.masses hands control to the audience and invites it to discover the space between the work that defines us and the play that sets us free. The show is a collective game, in which anyone who wants to can play. The duration depends on the choices made by the audience throughout the game. Includes food and drink. Creative team: Co-direction, text, programming, pixel art and 2D animation by Patrick Blenkarn; co-direction, text, sound design, video, shaders and 3D visual effects by Milton Lim; dramaturgy, text and touring production by Laurel Green.
