Beatrice Rana
Live music
Sunday 11 October
A piano recital by Beatrice Rana, praised by Gramophone and The New York Times, with a programme of Bach's French Suite No. 2, Debussy's Études Book I and Chopin's nocturnes, ballade and scherzo.
Beatrice Rana crossed paths with the music of J. S. Bach early on. She performed live for the first time at the age of nine, then interpreting the Concerto in F minor. A year later, she heard Glenn Gould's Goldberg Variations and realised that the limits to her expressiveness were greater than she had thought, eventually recording the Variations at the same age as Gould, to expressive praise from Gramophone magazine. Since then, she has built a reputation for brilliance, leading The New York Times to consider her "one of the most profound and prodigiously talented artists of the new generation". Programme. Johann Sebastian Bach. French Suite No. 2 in C minor, BWV 813. Claude Debussy. Études: Book I. Fryderyk Chopin. Nocturne in C minor, op. 48 No. 1. Ballade No. 2 in F major, op. 38. Nocturne in F sharp minor, op. 48 No. 2. Scherzo No. 3 in C sharp minor, op. 39. Technical sheet: Beatrice Rana - Piano.
