The Telephones
As Telefones
Theatre
Friday 9 October · until 11 Oct
Adapted from Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida's work and directed by Zia Soares, the play follows a mother and daughter connected by telephones across three decades, from complicated intercontinental calls to today's WhatsApp voice messages.
Two women, mother and daughter, separated by an ocean of faded memory, connected by telephones across three decades. Their interrupted connection follows the history of that extraordinary invention. From the days when they spoke through complicated intercontinental calls to today's WhatsApp voice messages, the design of Bia and Estrela's love is shaped by the way time and sound entangle them and push them apart instead of bringing them closer together.
