Thursday 1 October · until 4 Oct
The Grupo de Teatro Amador de Benfica stages Henrik Ibsen's classic, in which Hedda, trapped by social conventions after her honeymoon, sees her fragile balance disturbed by the arrival of her former lover Ejlert Løvborg, triggering a series of tragic events.
After her honeymoon with Jørgen Tesman, a promising academic, Hedda struggles with the return to domestic life, which quickly proves monotonous and suffocating. Despite the apparent stability of the marriage, the young woman feels trapped by social conventions and unable to find a purpose for her existence. The arrival of Ejlert Løvborg, Hedda's former lover and Tesman's intellectual rival, comes to disturb this balance. Recovered from alcoholism and the author of a promising work, Løvborg can count on the support of Thea Elvsted, a woman who abandoned her comfortable life to help him rebuild himself. Driven by jealousy, boredom and the desire to exert control over those around her, Hedda sets off a series of tragic events… Creative team: Grupo de Teatro Amador de Benfica. Text by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Benjamim Falcão.
