On National Sustainability Day, Tales Frey opens 'Em Suspensão' at the National Museum of Costume, an exhibition of sculptures and installations made from rejected clothing that question consumption, memory and citizenship. The programme also includes the lecture 'Indumento Performativo', spanning twenty years of the artist's production.
On 25 September, National Sustainability Day, the artist opens Em Suspensão, an exhibition bringing together recent works that investigate clothing as a political body, an archive of memories and a critical device, articulating environmental, social and identity issues. The opening takes on an additional symbolic dimension by happening at a singular moment in the institution's history. Although the National Museum of Costume remains temporarily closed for rehabilitation works, the exhibition will be open to the public, reaffirming that a museum's mission goes beyond its buildings and is fulfilled in the continuity of access to culture, critical thinking and the encounter between art and society. The exhibition proposes a stance against an economic model based on excessive production, the exploitation of resources and disposability. By transforming rejected clothes into sculptures and installations, Tales Frey questions the fate of fabrics and the relations between consumption, body, memory and citizenship. The programme also includes the lecture Indumento Performativo: corpo, memória e resistência na arte contemporânea, held on National Sustainability Day itself. Spanning twenty years of artistic production, Frey presents the concept of "performative clothing" and discusses dress as a symbolic extension of the body, a political device and a tool for social participation. Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 1pm / 2pm to 6pm. sculpture installation.
