A ticket giving access to all the exhibitions and spaces of MAAT — the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology on the Belém riverfront — which brings together the 1908 thermoelectric power station, the contemporary MAAT Gallery building and the MAAT Garden along the Tagus.
Brief Introduction This ticket gives access to all the museum's exhibitions and spaces, including the MAAT Gallery, the MAAT Central and the MAAT Garden. Inaugurated in October 2016 in the context of the cultural patronage policy long upheld by the Fundação EDP, MAAT — the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology — is an international institution dedicated to promoting critical discourse and creative practice with a view to fostering new understandings of the historical present and a responsible commitment to the future. Located on the riverfront of the historic zone of Belém, in Lisbon, MAAT comprises a thermoelectric power station built in 1908, MAAT Central, and a contemporary building, MAAT Gallery, linked by a garden stretching along the Tagus river, MAAT Garden. In addition to its programme of temporary exhibitions and activities, the Agenda, the museum also includes permanent exhibitions, such as A Fábrica da Eletricidade in the Central, or the sculptures in the outdoor spaces. Drawing on the multiple layers of history preserved in its cultural and artistic heritage, MAAT advocates a concept of the museum as a catalysing platform for turning discourse into action and for empowering the public in the exercise of its power of choice through the articulation of debate, the sharing of positions and the formulation of knowledge. With the aim of encouraging an open and transformative relationship between cultural institutions and social change, the museum simultaneously seeks to question and to celebrate the intellectual ambitions and creative means through which we imagine (with art), inhabit (with architecture) and create (with technology) the world we live in — that is, the ways in which we constantly redefine our collective commitment to the planetary ecosystem to which we belong.
