Guided tours of the historic Teatro Variedades in Parque Mayer celebrate the venue's 100 years and reveal backstage areas, technical spaces and stories from decades of revue theatre. Tours take place on 12/10, 14/11 and 14/12, free of charge with prior booking.
In 1926 one of the most emblematic performance venues in the city of Lisbon rose in Parque Mayer: the Teatro Variedades. Revues, comedies, farces, zarzuelas and operettas took over this theatre's stage for decades and introduced artists who are part of the legacy of Portuguese theatre. In the late 1990s the venue closed its doors. It reopened in 2024 to once again occupy a prominent place in the capital. Until December, guided tours are held that showcase the theatre's 100 years and reveal stories that happened there, as well as areas normally reserved: backstage, stage accesses, technical and work areas. The public discovers what happens before, during and after a show, plus some curiosities about artists, crews and audiences.
