Museu do Aljube Santa Maria Maior · Lisbon

The Museu do Aljube Resistência e Liberdade presents an exhibition dedicated to the women who were political prisoners under the dictatorship, showing how they resisted, how they survived torture and the conditions of imprisonment, and who supported them. It is the institution's tribute to these women's legacy, courage and inspiration.

Following 'Mulheres e Resistência, Novas Cartas Portuguesas e outras lutas', the Museu do Aljube Resistência e Liberdade continues to focus its programme on women's struggles against the dictatorship and the old regime. This time, the theme is the experience of the women who endured the condition of political prisoners: how they resisted, how they survived torture and the conditions of imprisonment, and who supported them, among other aspects. The exhibition is the institution's tribute to the legacy, courage and inspiration of these women. Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am to 6pm. Technical sheet: Curated by Rita Rato. Research and texts by Beatriz Tavares, Francisco Bairrão Ruivo and Rita Rato.
