An exhibition inviting us to rediscover raw earth as matter, archive and agent of contemporary architecture in Portugal, bringing together scientific and historical content, prototypes and collaborative experiments with earth excavated from construction sites in Lisbon. It includes a free screening of the film Toucher Terre on 26 September at 5 pm in the MAC/CCB Auditorium.
At a moment of pressure on the planet's limits, we look at raw earth not as a nostalgic return, but as a natural, local and available resource. Building with earth is to understand the territory and to reactivate an archive of knowledge that connects local resources and building culture. The exhibition runs from matter to action: from the physical and mineral complexity of the soil to accumulated knowledge, and on to practices that reclaim earth as a viable, ethical and poetic building material. Starting from the soil — the ground beneath our feet — it invites us to rediscover raw earth as matter, archive and agent of contemporary architecture in Portugal. It brings together scientific and historical content, prototypes and case studies, as well as collaborative experiments that analyse and reuse earth excavated from construction sites in Lisbon, revealing its performance and potential as a circular resource and opening up possibilities for its participation in the construction of the city.
