Espaço Exibicionista Lisbon

'Mouseion', Cias's third solo exhibition at Espaço Exibicionista, presents works in dry pastel and oil pastel with touches of gold leaf, inspired by Greek mythology, in which tattooed figures act as symbols and narrative elements.

Inspired by his fascination with Greek mythology, Cias develops a series of works centred on the human figure and on the stories, emotions and ideas that traverse time. Love, grief, beauty, memory, desire, courage and the search for meaning are some of the themes present in this new body of work. The pieces, executed in dry pastel and oil pastel with touches of gold leaf, reveal one of the most particular characteristics of the artist's work: the figures portrayed display tattoos that function as symbols and narrative elements, pointing to the stories and myths each work seeks to tell. An artist and tattoo artist passionate about history, Cias has been developing a practice that crosses drawing, painting and tattooing, exploring the body as a place of expression, memory and narrative. Mouseion is Cias's third solo exhibition at Espaço Exibicionista and presents a new stage of this investigation into the body, myth and what remains — in memory, in image and in skin. Monday to Friday, from 11h to 19h, Saturday, from 11h to 16h. drawing painting tattoo.
