An artistic workshop inspired by the schist plaque discovered at the emblematic Alapraia Necropolis, part of the European Heritage Days 2026, where participants use engraving and painting techniques to recreate this prehistoric treasure of Cascais with their own hands. It takes place on 23 September from 10h00 to 12h00 and is aimed at ages 4 and over.

Inspired by one of the most iconic prehistoric artefacts discovered in the present-day municipality of Cascais, the schist plaque, this artistic workshop promises a journey through time, recovering the experiences, beliefs and ways of manual and artistic work of our most distant ancestors. Discovered at the emblematic Alapraia Necropolis, this piece transports us to the sacred and divine imagination of the Late Neolithic/Chalcolithic communities that inhabited our territory. Through engraving and painting techniques, the great challenge is to reimagine and recreate, with your own hands, this precious treasure of the history of Cascais. As part of the European Heritage Days 2026, dedicated to the theme "Heritage at risk: revive, resist, reimagine", the Museu da Vila is hosting a free artistic workshop open to all visitors on 23 September, between 10h00 and 12h00. Inspirada num dos artefactos pré-históricos mais icónicos descobertos no atual concelho de Cascais, a placa de xisto, esta oficina artística promete uma viagem no tempo, recuperando vivências, crenças e modos de trabalho manual e artístico dos antepassados mais longínquos. Descoberta na emblemática Necrópole da Alapraia, esta peça transporta-nos para o imaginário sagrado e divino das comunidades do Neolítico Final/Calcolítico que habitaram o nosso território.
