Commented concert by Susana Henriques. Lisbon Music Academy. Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Full details

🌙 From moon to moon, the Wheel of the Year leads us once again to the mysterious passage of Samhain, when nature withdraws, the days grow shorter and the world seems to sink into a time of silence and transformation. 🍂 Associated with the ancient Gaelic traditions, Samhain marks the transition into the dark half of the year and has, over the centuries, become a time deeply bound to fire, to the ancestors, to mysteries and to the borders between the known world and the invisible. 🐉 Between the mist of the Serra de Sintra and the fire of our cauldron, we will explore the plants, trees, aromas, symbols and magical creatures that inhabit the imagination of Samhain. Dragons, guardians of treasures, caves and the primordial forces of nature, will accompany us as the guiding thread of this journey between fire, earth, water and sky. 🧉 At Casa do Fauno, we will work with the magical herbarium, discover ancestral traditions and symbolisms and prepare an autumn-inspired magic potion, accompanied by a tasting of the season's flavours and a few surprises. 🔥 An afternoon between mist and fire, among plants, magical creatures and ancient stories, to celebrate the mystery of Samhain and cross, together, the veil between worlds. 📍 Detailed Programme: ✨ The Return of Magical Thought: disenchantment vs re-enchantment. 🕯️ Places and Tools of Power: the natural world as an ally of the mind in the magical and ritual context. 🌌 On the Thresholds of Mystery: dragons and forgotten imaginaries. 🍵 A Tea in the Other World: preparing an aromatic tisane with various elements evocative of the Samhain season. ⚗️ Magic Laboratory: a surprise hands-on experiment for all participants. 🌑 The Passage into Night: preparing and tasting the final Samhain potion at the Faun's pyre. 📌 Required material | One mug or cup per participant, for tasting our potions, with a view to reducing the use of disposable plastic cups. Warm clothing: Sintra is magical, but also cold at nightfall! 📌 Isa Baptista graduated in Portuguese Studies and completed a Master's in Egyptian Studies. She showed a passion for plants from an early age and has deepened her study of herbalism and ethnobotany over the last 20 years. In Japan, she came into contact with various aspects of traditional and complementary medicine. She is also part of the team at Zéfiro, a publisher specialised in history, mythology and esotericism.
