Between Samurai and Violins | Lisbon Music Academy | Commented Concerts

11:00 Centro Cultural de Belém Belém Lisbon

17,5€ Live music

Commented concert by Susana Henriques. Lisbon Music Academy. Between Samurai and Violins proposes a musical journey inspired by the life and thought of Shinichi Suzuki, a major figure in 20th-century music pedagogy. Born into a lineage of samurai and a member of the family that owned the world's largest instrument factory, his path was marked by a late discovery of the violin, by his time in Berlin, by his friendship with Einstein and by the formulation of the 'mother tongue' principle. This concert celebrates a legacy that combines discipline, listening and affection, revealing music as a language of formation, sharing and growth. Between tradition and innovation, this concert promotes an immersive experience, capable of transforming performers and audiences on both sides of the stage.

Synopsis In the countryside, the neighbours know everything. News travels fast even among the slowest creatures (I'm looking at you, snails!). So when the Country Mouse decides to visit his cousin in the City, all the animals already know about the trip. Once in the metropolis, he realises how different everything is, and he and his Cousin argue about whether it is better to live in the Country or the City. They reach no conclusion, but that's all right — the departure was always more fun than the arrival. A show created by Joana Estrela and Nicolau, with a story told through drawings, music and a few worms.
