Brief Introduction INTRODUCTION TO SUMI-E PAINTING WORKSHOP With Mami Higuchi DATE | Saturday | October 10 TIME | 10:30 am - 12:30 pm PARTICIPANTS | Min. 12 Max. 20 PRICE | €25 (materials included) Sumi-e is a painting that allows a simple but delicate expression, making full use of shading, blurring, bleeding, gradation and the intensity of the impulse when loading the brush. The images and ink, which are drawn simply, convey the depth of nature and life, sadness, "wabi-sabi", silence and simplicity, capturing the viewer's heart. In this workshop, we practice basic brushstrokes and draw bamboo, and other elements. Mami Higuchi, printmaker, Co-founder of Matriz Associação de Gravura do Porto 1998 Artist-in-residence at Art Studio Itsukachi (Tokyo, Japan) 2006 Co-founder of the "Matriz" Printmaking Association (Porto, Portugal) 2005-06 Grant from the POLA Foundation (Japan) for arts abroad; worked in Portugal 2009 International exchange exhibition, Encounter with the East / Museu do Oriente (Lisbon, Portugal) 2010 8th International Print Triennial of Chamalières / (Chamalières, France) 2012 International exchange exhibition Japan, Portugal, After 3.11 / Center for Contemporary Graphic Art and Tyler Graphics Archive Collection (Fukushima, Japan) 2013 Exhibition Consonance by Mami Higuchi and Naoji Ishiyama / Galeria dos Leões, University of Porto (Porto, Portugal), among others. As imagens e a tinta, que são desenhadas de forma simples, transmitem a profundidade da natureza e da vida, tristeza, “wabi-sabi”, silêncio e simplicidade, capturando o coração do observador.
