Dipaprakashe, In the Light of the Lamp is a Bharata Natyam performance inspired by the narratives of the Ramayana and the symbolism of Dipavali, the festival of lights celebrated between October and November by various communities in different parts of the world. From the symbolic image of the lamp, this creation evokes the passage between absence and presence, darkness and light, separation and reunion.
The central piece of the performance, Sitarama Varnam, depicts episodes from the Ramayana, traditionally attributed to the sage Valmiki and considered one of the two great Itihasas of India: epic narratives that convey ethical, philosophical and spiritual teachings. Through the language of Bharata Natyam, the performers give shape to a universe of contemplation, surrender and transformation, where the sacred manifests itself through movement.
In this choreographic creation, the universe of the Ramayana takes shape through Sita and Rama, whose relationship expresses the union between the human and the divine, symbolizing courage, devotion and compassion. Although Valmiki's Ramayana does not establish a direct connection between Rama's victorious return to the kingdom of Ayodhya and Dipavali, several later traditions associate this episode with the imaginary of the Festival of Lights. Here, the flame of the lamp becomes a symbol of memory, hope and rebirth.
Performed by the trio of dancers from the Tarikavalli Company, the performance invites the audience to enter a space where light expands in the darkness. The dances evoke the spirit of Dipavali and the teachings of the Ramayana, proposing an experience in which tradition, memory and contemporary creation meet under the symbol of light.

TARIKAVALLI COMPANY
Tarikavalli, a pioneer in Portugal of classical Indian dance in the Bharata Natyam style, was at the origin of the implantation and dissemination of this art in the country. Heir to the tradition of the Pandanallur School, she was a direct disciple of the legendary masters U.S. Krishna Rao and Chandrabhaga Devi, essential figures in the revival of Bharata Natyam in the 20th century.
Continuing this path, she founded and directs the Tarikavalli Dance Company, based at the Oeiras Dance Center (Algés), an artistic group dedicated to the art of Bharata Natyam.
The Tarikavalli Dance Company brings together Tarikavalli, Catarina Mallika and Julieta Rousseau, a trio of artists who share a journey built over more than fifteen years, marked by training, creation and transmission. Trained by Tarikavalli since they were young, Catarina Mallika and Julieta Rousseau are co-founders and artistic collaborators of the Company, sharing the creation, development and continuity of its artistic project. Together, they preserve and renew the richness of the art of Bharata Natyam through this transmission between generations.

Dipaprakashe , À Luz da Lamparina é um espetáculo de Bharata Natyam inspirado nas narrativas do Ramayana e no simbolismo do Dipavali , festival das luzes celebrado entre outubro e novembro por várias comunidades em diferentes partes do mundo. A partir da imagem simbólica da lamparina, esta criação evoca a passagem entre ausência e presença, escuridão e luz, separação e reencontro.
A peça central do espetáculo, Sitarama Varnam , retrata episódios do Ramayana , tradicionalmente atribuído ao sábio Valmiki e considerado um dos dois grandes Itihasa da Índia: narrativas épicas que transmitem ensinamentos éticos, filosóficos e espirituais. Através da linguagem do Bharata Natyam , as intérpretes dão forma a um universo de contemplação, entrega e transformação, onde o sagrado se manifesta através do movimento.
Nesta criação coreográfica, o universo do Ramayana ganha forma através de Sita e Rama , cuja relação exprime a união entre o humano e o divino, simbolizando coragem, devoção e compaixão. Aqui, a chama da lamparina torna-se símbolo de memória, esperança e renascimento.
Interpretado pelo trio de bailarinas da Companhia Tarikavalli, o espetáculo convida o público a entrar num espaço onde a luz se expande na escuridão. As danças evocam o espírito do Dipavali e os ensinamentos do Ramayana , propondo uma experiência em que tradição, memória e criação contemporânea se encontram sob o símbolo da luz.

Tarikavalli, pioneira em Portugal da dança clássica indiana, no estilo Bharata Natyam , esteve na origem da implantação e da divulgação desta arte no país. Herdeira da tradição da Escola de Pandanallur, foi discípula direta dos mestres lendários U.S. Krishna Rao e Chandrabhaga Devi, figuras incontornáveis do renascimento do Bharata Natyam no século XX.
Na continuidade deste percurso, fundou e dirige a Companhia de Dança Tarikavalli, sediada no Centro de Dança de Oeiras (Algés), um grupo artístico dedicado à arte do Bharata Natyam .
A Companhia de Dança Tarikavalli reúne Tarikavalli, Catarina Mallika e Julieta Rousseau, um trio de artistas que partilha um percurso construído ao longo de mais de quinze anos, marcado pela formação, criação e transmissão. Formadas por Tarikavalli desde jovens, Catarina Mallika e Julieta Rousseau são cofundadoras e colaboradoras artísticas da Companhia, partilhando a criação, o desenvolvimento e a continuidade do seu projeto artístico. Em conjunto, preservam e renovam a riqueza da arte do Bharata Natyam através desta transmissão entre gerações.
Paralelamente à sua atividade como intérprete e coreógrafa, Tarikavalli dedica-se à transmissão desta tradição artística através do ensino. Leciona regularmente no Centro de Dança de Oeiras (Algés), no Jaya Aerial Lab (Lisboa), e no centro de dança PMDS (Paris), orientando igualmente workshops, estágios e projetos interculturais em Portugal e noutros países europeus.
