Synopsis Pre-concert talk with Cesário Costa, at 6:30 PM. Published in London in 1734, at the height of Georg Friedrich Handel's operatic success in the British capital, the Concerti Grossi Op. 3 exemplarily reveal the composer's stylistic eclecticism, reconciling the Italian tradition inherited from Arcangelo Corelli with the theatricality and inventiveness characteristic of his writing. The collection brings together six concertos of strong expressive contrast, built from two to five movements of diverse nature, often performed independently. In this concert, Les Musiciens du Louvre, under the direction of Marc Minkowski, an unavoidable reference in the interpretation of the Baroque repertoire, bring these pages to life with energy, elegance and stylistic refinement.
